Start by checking market breadth, BTC dominance, and where the largest coins are trading relative to recent structure.

Step 1: Read the market tape

Review market cap change and 24h volume
Check if leadership is concentrated in BTC and ETH or rotating outward
Note whether the highest volume names are also the strongest names

Step 2: Narrow the focus

Choose one of three states:

Trending leadership
Choppy rotation
Risk-off defense

Step 3: Turn observations into rules

Write a short plan before opening a chart:

What would confirm the thesis?
What would invalidate it?
Which asset best expresses it?
